TEACHING IN HUNGARY!

Donation protected

It's real! I'm going to Hungary! My dear pal Chelsea Tanis and I have been hired to teach in elementary schools in a city called Hajduszoboszlo. Yep. We are thrilled! Thanks to the Central European Teaching Program (CETP), we will be provided with housing, health insurance, work visas, orientation and teaching training, and various resources in our local placements and in nearby Budapest. Before moving to Hajduszoboszlo in August, I will pay CETP $2,500 to cover these expenses. I also need to buy my plane ticket and finally get myself a laptop, so fundraising cannot be avoided.

WHY AM I DOING THIS?
Good question. I don't have a teaching degree, I don't speak much Hungarian, I don't know what Hajduszoboszlo is like other than that the name sounds like Parseltongue and they're famous for mineral baths. Here's the deal : I applied to CETP because I fell in love with Hungary while studying in Budapest in 2011. When you love something, not everything makes sense, but you want to know it more, you want to spend your time with it, you want to learn from it and give it your best tries and laugh and cry with it. That's how I feel about spending some more time of my life in Hungary. I'm hoping that investing as a teacher will allow me to have a meaningful role in a Hungarian community, help me gain some cultural understanding, acquire better language skills, and feel the straight up joy of entering into new relationships. I love kids, I love to learn, I love education, and I want to be a positive part of the schoolday.
Furthermore, Hajduszoboszlo is just a few hours away from Timisoara, Romania, where I've volunteered about 400 hours in a hospital for infants and toddlers and I would be so thankful to be able to continue more consistent involvement there.
I look forward to this teaching year as a time of growth, challenge, relationship building, community involvement, and perhaps a chance to host visitor(s)?! in this place I have come to love. Meaning, I will welcome you into my apartment and lavish upon you hugs and hand-holding if you'd like to come see me and my school.

I welcome any dollar amount, truly.
I ALSO WELCOME :
ADVICE, CONVERSATION, WISDOM, NON-MONETARY SUPPORT.
Please contact me if you have teaching experience, experience with children, school systems, overseas employment, and/or you have a brain and a heart and are willing to hang out with me.
I would love to meet with you.
