Aikido Kenkyukai Int'l USA 2018 Campaign

Tax deductible
Aikido Kenkyukai International, USA ("AKI USA") is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Every year we work to raise money so we can continue our important work in the community. This work includes, but is not limited to:

 - Providing scholarships to those in need. With your help, we have provided nearly $35,000 worth of scholarships! Recipients include low-income youth, military veterans with PTSD, and other underserved populations.

 - Increasing Aikido's popularity among youth and millennials. AKI USA is working hard to increase the popularity of Aikido among youth and millennials. This includes modernizing our web site, offering scholarships, supporting and mentoring millennials who have just joined the dojo, as well as offering "Young People's Only" classes. It is our mission do what's necessary to engage millennials, in order to ensure the continuation of the practice of Aikido. The result is that the average age of the adult members at our Hollywood dojo is 28.

 - Supporting other dojos and instructors that are in need. This year, AKI USA sprang into action when we learned that the daughter of Lee Lavi Ramirez Sensei had been diagnosed with cancer. We immediately transformed our Fall Seminar into a fundraiser to support our local Aikido community.

 - Offering Aikido seminars with world renowned instructors. Each year we host at least two seminars, attracting practitioners of all skill levels from around the globe. Scholarships are also available to those in need for these seminars.

 - Deshi Program (Immersion Program). Candidates from around the globe have begun applying for our Deshi Program. We need to provide a dedicated training space for these young practitioners, thereby supporting the future of Aikido.

 - Virtual Dojo (Online Video Library). Our Virtual Dojo serves our participants as a training supplement. And for people in rural areas, who are not fortunate enough to have local training opportunities, it gives them an insight into the philosophy of Aikido.

 - Forging new relationships with overseas dojo, thus enriching the experiences of our young members. This year, I was honored to be included on the teaching roster for Aikido Summer Berlin, a seminar with 15 instructors from 11 different countries. These are opportunities for our AKI USA members to get a "bigger picture" in their Aikido experience and make life-changing experiences.

Currently, our most pressing need is more tatami for our Hollywood dojo and to get our own dedicated space!

Any amount helps! Please give what you can!

NEWS! Fall Seminar & Fundraiser: Oct 12-14

Our Fall Seminar with senseis Chetan Prakash and Lia Suzuki will benefit the daughter of Lee Lavi  Ramirez Sensei.

Details:
The 16-year-old daughter of our friend Lee Lavi Ramirez Sensei was recently diagnosed with bone cancer. Lavi Ramirez Sensei has been a good friend to our dojo and was the first to join our Los Angeles Friendship Class Series, with no hesitation.

We would like to support her at this difficult time so all net proceeds from the seminar will go to support this cause.
