Aigsa Collazo’s Recovery Fund

Aigsa's Story....

It is with the utmost appreciation and humility that I ask for your thoughts, prayers and assistance.  As most of you know, to call Kayla my best friend is an understatement - she is my sister.  Today, I ask for your help as her beautiful mother, Aigsa aka Lee Girl, embarks on a long and challenging recovery journey.

On June 11th, Aigsa suffered a severe cerebral aneurysm and was quickly rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital.  The following day, doctors unsuccessfully attempted to cure the aneurysm arterially; discovering and clearing a blood clot in the process.  Tuesday was rest day as the doctors made sure she was strong enough for surgery; and on Wednesday, Aigsa underwent open brain surgery to treat - and successfully cure - the aneurysm.

For the coming two weeks she will be at an extremely high risk for stroke and will remain in the Neuro ICU. We have been blessed that tests confirm no signs of seizures, stable brain function, and physical abilities intact.  Unfortunately, she is also fighting severe pneumonia and remains intubated. As with any brain surgery it is now up to her when she wakes up; and, it’s unknown what to expect when that does happen.  What we do know - she’s fighting like hell - of course.  She is truly one of the strongest women I’ve had the honor to know, I would expect nothing less from Lee Girl.

Before I ask for your help, I know Korina, Kayla and Kamy (Aigsa’s three daughters) would want to thank everyone for the overwhelming outpouring of love, compassion and support over the past week. The power of prayer, positivity and faith amongst Aigsa’s daughters, family and friends has been amazingly strong and I truly believe this power has contributed to her healing.

Kamy, 9, is Aigsa’s youngest daughter, and just finishing third grade.  With her mom out of commission for the near future, Korina, Kayla and family will need help to keep Kamy supported. There is also no doubt that Aigsa will need extensive rehabilitation and costly medical care once she’s released from the hospital; and although we hope she makes a complete recovery, the future is too uncertain now.

I humbly ask that - if you’re able - please help Lee Girl. The family wants to provide her the care she needs to successfully recover and regain her life.  They want to be sure that Kamy is taken care of while her mom isn’t able to provide for her.  We ask that you all please keep Lee Girl in your thoughts and prayers as we continue to fight alongside her.

With love, peace and gratitude, we thank you.
