HIV/AIDS.
Over the last 30 years, societal and pharmaceutical treatment progression has desensitized the alarming power these words once triggered. I'm a sixteen-year-old girl living a reasonably stable life --got the few unexpected plot twists, so I guess I'm normal --so what does this disease which holds so much global history have to do with me? Well, I'm a Gen Z-er; I never heard Larry Kramer's famous 'How to Treat a Plague' speech or woke up to a world with one less rock musician or saw Benneton employ the infamous image of suffering David Kirby as a marketing strategy. I never witnessed regular humans painfully suffering both through the means of a deteriorating immune system and ostracization from the medical field and society itself just because of love. And that's something my entire generation and I share: an ignorance towards revolutionary history.

30 Years Since is a fundraiser event designed to celebrate AIDS treatment research and to commemorate the lives lost along the way. We are planning on inviting local art vendors, musical entertainment, and HIV/AIDS activist speakers to create an atmosphere that reflects on the brutal past while cherishing the revolutionary progression that has been accomplished 30 Years Since the AIDS epidemic.  Through music, arts, and uplifting speakers, we're acknowledging history and celebrating the future.

However, none of this will be possible without a venue. As of now, we need a minimum of $4000 to book the venue.  Once the venue is booked, the rest -- inviting art vendors, musicians, speakers, advertisement-- can proceed.  Raising awareness for HIV/AIDS has been a burning passion of mine for the longest time, and I'm only $4000 away from making this event happen. Your donation  ON GOFUNDME will go towards booking the venue to make this entire event possible. Any donation, whether it be 5 cents to $500, goes a long way. I cannot thank you enough.

At this very moment, we are 10 --TEN!-- Years away from finding a vaccine for HIV/AIDS treatment. Also, at this very moment, there are hundreds upon hundreds of people suffering and dying from this disease the same way as in 1980. By donating and purchasing a Red Ribbon **AT THE EVENT**, you're contributing to a future for everyone. Your money will go towards AIDS research facilities and help provide research teams the economic means to experiment with new medicines in the hopes of finding a cure. Donations will also benefit those who are severely suffering and provide them medical and basic essential needs despite their economic disparity. This event will not only reflect on the past, but through the help of donations, it will grant a foreseeable future to all.

Donations made **AT THE EVENT**will be through ticket purchases as well as Red Ribbon purchases. Each art vendor will have a basket where you can purchase a Red Ribbon --the awareness ribbon for HIV/AIDS-- for $2 and 100% of Red Ribbon proceeds will go to NAT (National AIDS Trust) and EJAF (Elton John's AIDS Foundation).  We want this night to encapsulate with love, acceptance, and appreciation for how far we've come 30 Years Since and how close we are to eradicating this hellish mutant of a disease.

Thank You,
Gaby Diaz
