Aid for Barbuda

Donation protected
As you may have seen in the news, Hurrican Irma has absolutely devastated the Caribbean island of Barbuda. This tiny island, population 1800, has lost all essential infrastructure from this epic storm. Without essential infrastructure, the Barbudans have no way to make a living and cannot live in their homeland. The entire population of Barbuda has been displaced to the island of Antigua for the foreseen future.

We will ensure that the money raised through this campaign will go to the direct benefit of the Barbudans and to areas with the widest impact.  Specific local charities are the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross  and the Coco Point Fund.  If you prefer, please consider donating to them directly.

Barbuda has a long history dating back to the 1600s and it would be an absolute world travesty for the Barbudans to lose their homeland and their unique island culture.

Complete destruction of the only town on Barbuda - Codrington

Cell tower snapped into pieces

There is no electricity, there is no running water, 95% of homes are uninhabitable and there are no schools or churches left standing. It will take months to restore basic infrastructure.  Barbuda's most valuable resources - its lovely people and beautiful beaches for tourism, cannot be utilized until essential infrastructure is restored.

While Antigua has said it will try to help rebuild
Barbuda, it has limited financial resources. In addition, Antigua historically has viewed Barbuda as a relative but not always asa close family member.  As such,  Barbuda needs the world's help to reestablish essential infrastructure so that the Barbudans can work and live on their island again.

Before Hurricane Irma's destruction

We are Americans with close personal ties to the Barbudans since the 1960s.  We have been in contact with many Barbudans who have confirmed the complete destruction of their homeland.

The Barbudans are lovely, hard working and resilient people and are so grateful for any help you can provide.  They will not squander the world's assistance.  It will be directed 100% to humanitarian rebuilding.  No amount is too small.  Thank you for your aid and assistance!!!!!
