En Septembre 2020, j’ai perdu l’usage de tous mes membres suite à un accident grave qui a entrainé tétraparesie incomplète C5 . Après un séjour d'un an et demi a l'hôpital, à force de détermination et combativité, j'ai pu récuperer un début d'autonomie qui m'a permis enfin de sortir du centre de réhabilitation en Avril 2022.
Nous voilà en 2022 — je suis installé dans mon appartement seul, où je reçois de l'aide au quotidien. J’ai depuis entamé une rééducation intensive, motivé par une évolution notable et contraire à toutes les attentes et predictions des médecins, depuis un an. Il est important pour moi d’aller au bout de ce processus compte tenu des résultats probants, en seulement deux mois.
Je fréquente deux fois par semaine des kinés neurologiques (conventionnés), et trois fois par semaine le centre TRAINM, première clinique européenne en matière de rééducation neurologique innovante — ceci jusqu’à maintenant, à ma charge. Il va de soi, qu'un tel programme a un coût, qui n'est malheureusement pas pris en charge par l’INAMI, malgré l’efficacité du traitement.
Selon le neurologue la revalidation par kinésithérapie a atteint ses limites. Vu le potentiel de progression, il recommande de la revalidation par robotique et neuromodulation dont est équipé le centre TRAINM .
En l’absence d’une telle revalidation, des progrès supplémentaires ne seront probablement pas possibles voire très limités et je devrais me contenter de mon état neurologique actuel. Or, je veux vivre, bouger, être autonome autant que faire se peut. Je veux aller au bout des possibles.
Après les trois premiers mois de traitement que j’ai pu entamer à ma charge, je fais, maintenant, appel à la solidarité pour financer la suite de ce traitement prometteur, qui se terminerait en août faute de moyens.

A quoi servira cet argent ?
25000€ correspond à la somme nécessaire pour 3 mois de soins au centre TRAINM.
Ceci y compris les transports. Je pourrais ainsi continuer mon traitement de Septembre à Novembre.
J'espère qu'après ça l'assurance acceptera de prendre en charge la suite du traitement sans quoi je serai obligé de refaire appel à la solidarité.

In September 2020, I lost the use of all my limbs following a severe accident, diagnosed with incomplete tetraparesis C5 . After a one and a half year stay in hospital, through determination and fighting spirit I was able to regain the beginning of my autonomy, which allowed me to leave the rehabilitation centre in April 2022.
Here we are in 2022 - I am now living in my own flat, where I receive help on a daily basis. Since then I have started an intensive rehabilitation, motivated by the certain evolution since the accident, contrary to all expectations and predictions of the doctors a year ago. It is important for me to go through with this process given the potential for progress in just two months.
I have been seeing neurological physiotherapists twice a week (charged to Health Care Insuranc) and three times a week at the TRAINM centre, Europe's leading clinic for innovative neurological rehabilitation - so far at my own expense. It goes without saying that such a programme has a cost, which is unfortunately not covered by the National Health Insurance Fund (INAMI) despite the effectiveness of the treatment.
According to the neurologist, revalidation by physiotherapy has reached its limits. In view of the potential for progress, he recommends revalidation by robotics and neuromodulation, with which the TRAINM centre is equipped.
Without such revalidation, further progress will probably be impossible or very limited and I will have to be satisfied with my current neurological state. But I want to live, to move, to be as independent as possible. I want to go as far as I can.
After the first three months of treatment that I was able to start at my own expense, I am now appealing for solidarity to finance the continuation of this promising treatment, the financing of which ends in August.

What will this money be used for?
25,000€ is the amount needed for 3 months of care at the TRAINM centre.
This includes transport. This will allow me to continue my treatment from September to November.
I hope that after that the insurance company will accept to take care of the rest of the treatment, otherwise I will have to call on solidarity again.
