Aidan Neuman's Eagle Project

Donation protected
Dear Potential Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Project and Potosi Pines Church Camp supporter,

My name is Aidan Neuman, and I am a Boy Scout of Troop 931 in Henderson, Nevada. I am currently the rank of Life Scout. To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, a Life Scout is required to create a project that in no way, shape, or form benefits scouting. For the project, a scout needs to plan everything, from the safety of the participants to the exact size and shape of each piece of the project. The Project proposal has been approved, and the next step is fundraising.

Potosi Pines Church Camp has many areas needing work. One area is the main lodge and porch. The camp has a need for additional functional space so they can cater to all the different types of groups that attend the camp. Potosi works to provide experiences in a natural setting, set apart so that all who participate can see, hear, touch, smell, and taste the sacred.  The existing porch is at the heart of that, as it is where they build relationships, study, play, eat, sit quietly, and listen to the wind in the trees. Potosi Pines Camp serves all kinds of guests, including religious groups, school groups, the Nevada Diabetes association, the local hospice, Easter Seals, and local foster children. All of their programs center around four goals. We strive to build leadership skills, build a community where all feel loved, build positive self-esteem, and invite all into creation care.

The camp currently has a porch coming off the main lodge, and their need is to extend the existing porch out 14 feet deep by 28 feet long and create stairs that lead down to the existing sidewalk. There are two large existing pine trees that will be integrated into the porch design by building around them and giving them space to grow and prosper. Additionally, because of the unique nature of the sloping site, we are also able to create an amphitheater for guests to gather and gaze upon the beauty of the eastern valley.

The goal for this spectacular project is to raise $7,500 for all the parts and pieces needed to build the porch extension. For this project, we will need to purchase: 2x and 4x lumber, 4x4 wood posts, stair stringers, Trex decking, stainless steel cable and turnbuckles, nails, screws, anchors, conduit, wiring, lights, and concrete and rebar.

If there are any remaining funds or materials, they will be donated to Potosi Pines Church Camp. Your donations are fully tax-deductible since the church camp is a non-profit organization. Their tax ID number is 95-395-4544.

We would greatly appreciate it if you would join the effort and are able to donate money and/or resources. Alternatively, if you prefer to help create the structure, please let us know, and we will notify you when we plan to commence construction.

We have set up a “Go Fund Me” account if you would like to donate on line via Credit Card. Alternatively, you can send a check made out to “Potosi Pines Camp” and mail it to 10910 Mount Potosi Canyon Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89161. A receipt can be provided for your donation, upon request.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Aidan Neuman
