Hurricane Maria Aid for Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria has left my family in Puerto Rico stranded and desperate for aid. The storm passed through the island almost 4 weeks ago, taking away power, running water, and all means of communicating with them.
We finally connected with my cousins this week who explained that while the family is unharmed, they are running out of supplies like batteries, water and basic necessities. I am taking up a collection to send aid to my family. I have a 90 year old grandmother, 3 aunts, 1 uncle and their families to support in the cities of Coamo, Juana Diaz, Santa Isabel and Guayama.
I will be purchasing a long list of items such as hand radios, flashlights, lanterns, candles, batteries, matches, fans, first aid kits, water purification tablets, household cleaning supplies and food. I will also be sending money to help with repairs to their homes from the storm and to help purchase items locally such as bottled water, ice and gasoline.
The Governor of Puerto Rico said this week that he projects the power to be restored by December 15. That's two more months without internet, TV, air conditioning, the use of debit or credit cards and ATM machines. Shelves at the local stores are bare and what supplies do arrive are rationed. People are drinking contaminated water not knowing the source isn't clean.
I can't imagine what they are experiencing in the aftermath of this awful storm, but with our help we can make it better, if even just a little bit. I know every dollar we can give will mean so much to them.
