<div>In the beginning of this year, January 31st, I was shot by what I thought was my best friend. I was in ICU for 3 weeks and I’ve been in the hospital ever since. I haven’t been home or to a house since then. All I’ve known is a hospital and I’m missing out on so much that life has to offer. I am paralyzed from the chest down and lost function in my right arm. My dominant hand. I am unable to go to the restroom by myself, take a shower, get in and out of bed, a car or even do daily things on my own. This has been the longest journey of my life. I cry more and more, and still don’t get why me. I am going to have to learn things all over again and some things I will never be able to do by myself. I have two children. 1 &amp; 9 and I have missed so much of their lives this year because of the accident. I used to be a barber and may not be able to do so again in the future. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to work again. Right now I’m still working on getting out of the hospital. Since I’ve been here, I haven’t been able to work and the medical bills are adding up. I will also need help with getting specialized equipment for myself, and with no work, I can’t take care of myself. I have upcoming surgeries and a long road ahead. I’ve held out for so long creating this because I had hope. Hope I would be able to walk again, regain function of my hands at least. Now I know this isn’t the case. Not only do I need to relearn things, I’ll never be the same. I appreciate anything you can do to help.
