Since January 23rd, 2018, Miguel has been in the intensive-care unit (ICU) fighting for his life. From a healthy twenty five-year-old to being unconscious, needing a ventilator, heavy medication and daily dialysis, his life is threatened by many complications after being diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. It has affected his kidneys while threatening his heart and lungs.
Being a son of a single mother and a bother to one, Miguel would work hard to contribute to his small family. As a DACA holder, he focused on helping others through his passion and imminence kindness. Miguel, someone you could count on did not see this coming. Being a people’s person, Miguel could make you laugh and smile no matter what you were going through. He lifted everyone’s spirit and now he needs our help to lift his. Miguel’s life has halted. Putting his wedding plans, career, and future aside. More importantly is getting him back on his feet so he can live his well deserved dreams.
While he’s fighting for his life in ICU, his mom, brother, and fiancé are moving mountains to cover the outrageous medical bills, on top of their daily life expenses. His brother and mother have put everything aside to spend day and night beside him. For instance, Miguel’s brother temporarily left college with the decision to use his tuition money to pay part of the medical bills. In addition, his mother has suspended her daily routines to spend every second beside him.
After all these sacrifices that have been made, the bills keep building up and will continue to do so even after Miguel leaves the hospital to maintain a healthy life. Scheduled dialysis, insulin, digestive enzymes, and therapy are a few of the requirements for him to live.
