Aid Michael's Battle For His Boys

It is with heavy and humble hearts that we have created this account on behalf of our brother Michael, his two boys (ages 10 & 4), and our family. Michael is in the early stages of what we anticipate will be a very difficult separation/divorce, and is now fighting for access to and fair custody of his boys. While trying to adjust to this new reality and prepare for life as a single parent, Michael is also trying to support his family and cope with the emotional stresses of having an ailing father who is battling late stage Lewy Body Dementia & Parkinson’s disease.
For anyone that knows Michael, you know he is an amazing, loving, and dedicated father whose children are the absolute center of his world. The pain of not seeing his boys is unbearable; and unfortunately the legal road ahead will be long, difficult, and very costly. The possibility of his boys not seeing their ailing grandfather at this time makes the situation all the more heartbreaking.
All of this has been compounded by an unbelievable sequence of events that has literally left Michael with nothing; none of his personal belongings – no car, no home, no phone, no clothing (aside from a bag he had on him), no family keepsakes (i.e. childhood items, family photos, personal mementos, etc.), no documents (i.e. birth certificates, social security card, etc.), NOTHING. All of these items are believed to be gone for good. While some things can certainly be replaced in time, it makes navigating the custody battle much harder mentally, emotionally and financially.
Our focus is on the preservation of Michael’s relationship with his boys. We know achieving that through the courts will come with a hefty price tag that will quickly exceed Michael’s current financial resources and that which our family can provide. While it is incredibly difficult to ask friends and family for assistance, we are humbly asking for your help at this time so Michael can obtain strong and aggressive legal advice and counsel.
If you can find it in your heart to share $1, $5, $20… whatever you are able, we would be more grateful than we could ever express! Every penny raised will go directly to Michael’s legal fees first, which we anticipate will be exhausted very quickly (upwards of $15,000). Since he is starting with nothing, any additional money will go to support Michael and the boys as they rebuild their life together.
