Aid Kari Primeau's Family in Time of Need

Kari Primeau and her children’s lives were upended in March 2012 when her husband, Robert Bales, was involved in a tragic and high-profile event that drastically altered their lives. In the aftermath, Kari faced multiple challenges as she worked to provide for her children while navigating the fallout from the incident.

Robert, who served his country for over 10 years, has been diagnosed with PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and headache syndrome. Despite the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) acknowledging these conditions, the United States Disciplinary Barracks (USDB) refuses to allow inmates to be examined and evaluated by the VA, either in person or via video. This policy denies Robert and his family access to the VA benefits they have earned and deserve for the injuries sustained during his service.

Since 2019, Kari has been fighting to secure these benefits for her husband and their family. Without them, she has had to shoulder the entire financial burden of raising their two children and managing household expenses on her own.
