Jonathan L. Dumberger, known as JD or “Wolverine”, of Bronx, NY, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He was a compassionate individual who found joy in assisting others, cherishing time with his family, participating in fitness activities, and attending Comic-Con events. His kindness often overshadowed his professional achievements, and his warmth was a source of comfort to many. JD's character and authenticity were valued far beyond material possessions. He was a devoted husband and father to his two children with special needs, whom he cherished deeply.
In his professional career, JD was a committed public servant. His dedication to supporting youth led him to join the New York City Department of Probation’s Juvenile Probation Unit in 1999, where he began a distinguished journey in law enforcement. He took on the role of Parole Officer with the New York State Division of Parole in February 2007 and was promoted to Senior Parole Officer in November 2015. Most recently, he advanced to the position of Bureau Chief in August 2024. In this role, JD exemplified integrity, honesty, and strong moral principles. He earned the respect of his staff and was a passionate advocate for their interests.
JD leaves behind a remarkable legacy of friendship, kindness, and support for all those he encountered. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Dumberger, and his sons, Daniel and Micah Dumberger. In honoring his memory, we encourage everyone to extend kindness, friendship, and support to his family during this difficult time.
