This past Tuesday our world took a turn. At 7:17 a police officer came knocking on our door to tell me John had been in a bad motorcycle accident, he was alive but in an ambulance on his way to the emergency room. As he was going down the road to work, a woman took a wide U-turn and hit him, throwing him and the bike into a pole. When I got here he was in the trauma bay, they tried to brace me before I saw him. We had been here exactly one month before welcoming our fourth beautiful daughter into the world. My wonderful partner, the strongest man I know, the biggest shoulders in the world, laying there bloody and broken. He is our rock, the sole provider for our family, an amazing partner and father, doing anything and everything for us. Now, both bones in his leg in pieces, his foot being held on by tissue and pins. I can see the inside of his arms, down to the bone and his elbow joint. They’re saying as long as they can keep it from getting infected they should be able to save his foot. Saying it will take at least five months to heal and then physical therapy. He has had one surgery so far, another tomorrow and they’re still not sure how many he will need. We have had three different types of surgeons telling us the different things they will need to do. Our world is shook. Our older girls starting school next week, a car payment this weekend for now the family’s only mode of transportation. They’re preparing me for medical equipment we will need at home and teaching him how he’ll need to get dressed. I’m starting this GoFundMe to provide support for him and our family through this time. We will need help with medical expenses, rent and bills at home including car payments. I don’t even know what to expect but I know more than his body is hurt in this. He is worried for his family and kids and this was suggested to me as a way of helping to alleviate some of the struggle. Anything contributed would be hugely appreciated, as well as thoughts and prayers. Look twice, save a life and please, please wear a helmet❤️
