<div>So many of my family and friends have asked how they can be of help and I never know what help I really need but now I know.

<div>My health has been taking a nosedive, and sadly, my mom passed away unexpectedly. I’m feeling overwhelmed and could really use some financial help.

<div>I know it’s tough to ask for assistance, but the past 7-8 months have been incredibly tough for me and my family. As most of you know, <strong>I have a rare autoimmune disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC)</strong>. This disease eventually leads to liver failure and requires a liver transplant. I had my first liver transplant in 2018, but unfortunately, I faced complications from the start. After 9 months, I found out that the PSC had come back. I had my second liver transplant in 2021, and everything went smoothly. I was doing well, but unfortunately, I started having problems again and a lot of different complications and issues. At the beginning of 2023, I found out that the PSC had come back for a third time. This time has been particularly difficult. Each time I get PSC, it is more aggressive. The idea of having a third liver transplant is terrifying and comes with a lot more risks.

<div>So, here’s the story. In October 2024, I wasn’t feeling well and went to the local ER. I thought I might need antibiotics for a couple of days, but things took a wild turn. I ended up staying there for two whole weeks! Then, suddenly, I was whisked away by Air Med to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, which is where my transplant team is based. I had to stay in Arizona until December 20th, only getting to come home for Christmas and return on January 1st for more treatments. It was a real rollercoaster ride, let me tell you. I had a lot of complications and infections, and my transplant team was even considering listing me for my third transplant. But I asked them to wait until my next procedure to see how things went, and thankfully, things stabilized a bit. Now, I still need to have monthly procedures to switch out the stents in my liver, which means I’d still have to travel to Mayo Clinic every 4-5 weeks. However, after my mom passed away, I didn’t feel like I could travel and my team agreed I could attempt to have the procedure here locally. The doctor here that agreed to do it is the only doctor in the area willing to try after several doctors tried and failed to gain access to the Left side of my Liver and said they won’t do the procedures on me anymore. I just had my 2nd ERCP and stents changed last week (5/6/25) and I continue to have an infection in my bile ducts.

<div>Unfortunately, staying in Arizona for about three months was a huge financial burden, on top of my ever-increasing medical bills. I’m doing my best to pay them off, but it’s not easy. Just when I thought things were getting better, my mom got sick. She went into the hospital with pneumonia and sepsis, but she was doing well and feeling really good after a few days. But then, suddenly, she took a turn for the worse. It was heartbreaking. She passed away on March 1st. Unexpectedly and everything happened so quickly.

<div>This news has completely shattered us, and my kids and I are heartbroken. She was more than just my mom; she was my partner, my confidante, and the one who helped me raise my children. Anyone who knows us knows this. We’re struggling to move forward without her. We were already facing financial difficulties due to my medical issues. In February, our water heater started leaking and flooded part of our basement, and then we had to fix our furnace after a gas leak. Which were expensive repairs.

<div>Now, with my mom’s passing and her income gone, I’m desperately in need of help. I’ve reached out to local resources, but unfortunately, I don’t qualify for any government assistance that I can find. I believe I might finally start making some progress with my mortgage company to get help with getting caught up with and modifying our mortgage payments until we can figure out a permanent situation. I also need a lawyer to help me with some of my mom’s estate stuff that I’m being held responsible for.

<div>All this stress and worry are definitely taking a toll on my health. I’ve been having continuous cholangitis infections that antibiotics aren’t really effective on, making me feel overall crummy, extra fatigued, foggy, and it makes it hard for me to even manage small tasks. So, again, your generous support would be greatly appreciated.

<div><strong>Your gift will be incredibly helpful in paying off some of my medical bills, credit card bills from my travel expenses while at the Mayo Clinic from November 3, 2024, to February 15, 2025, the loan I had to get for our new water heater, my upcoming travel back to the Mayo Clinic (mid-June for my next stent changes and other appointments and possible procedures), hopefully help me catch up my mortgage payments, and even possibly allow me to get some of the major dental work done that I desperately need to get done.</strong>
