<div>Jace DeHart is a brave 18-year-old who has been battling epilepsy for the past two years watching him endure seizures (Focal and Grand Mall), hospital visits and daily struggles have been heartbreaking, but he continues the fight every day with incredible courage. We are raising funds to support Jace's medical care as well as the needs of our family during this time which include:

<div>My name is Jena DeHart, and I am humbly reaching out with a heart full of HOPE and URGENCY. The last two years have changed our lives in ways we never imagined. We've been fighting an invisible enemy...epilepsy... with our son at the heart of the battle. He was once a vivacious, energetic kid full of laughter, curiosity and big dreams. Our son Jace Dehart has lost more than just his health, he's lost friends, independence and most of all trust in his own body. He also sees himself as a burden and no matter how much I remind him of his strength and worth, it hurts to see someone so young carry so much pain. Seizures have robbed him of his independence, confidence and his joy. Watching his spark for life dim and seeing my vivacious, curious boy begin to break under the weight of the condition that never lets him rest is something no parent is prepared for.

<div>He's missed the milestones most teenagers take for granted such as learning to drive, graduating with peers and playing video games without fear of triggering a seizure. Also, the freedom all teenagers crave without being under constant 24/7 supervision. He's had to grow up all too fast while still trapped in a world that keeps shrinking.

<div>Sometimes it feels like people forget what's going he's going through just because he "looks fine" on the outside but I SEE IT, I SEE the added toll it's taking.
</div>

<div>He is beginning to break down under the weight of it all and it breaks my heart in ways words cannot capture. Our family hasn't had a good night's sleep in two years; we endure all the daily struggles both mentally and physically. We see the toll it takes on him as well as everyone under our roof.
</div>

<div>In addition to Jaces medical struggles our family has faced many hardships the last couple of years. My husband suffered a stroke and lost his job during this trying time. The weight of caregiving, having to spend less time together and simply keeping our family afloat has been immense.
</div>
<div> 
</div>
<div>My two other kids, Riley (21) and Colston (10) have unfortunately had to grow up too fast and learn to be more independent. During all of this they have been put on the back burner as Jace's needs take most of our time we all have learned to adapt and become a crucial support system not only each other but all of us.
</div>

</div>
<div>Jace has taught our family many lessons through strength, unconditional love, peace, perseverance and all the things that really matter in life. Jace still has a long road ahead. This experience has worn our hearts down, but we remain hopeful of a permanent solution. Jace will have his first brain surgery (SEEG) in July at the University of Utah. Shortly after he will have one more brain surgery, hopefully the final fix- all. We have had to travel out of the state to find and utilize the best specialists available.
