Aid for victims of the floods in Valencia

We are Isabella Q., Isabella M., & Zoe V; we are three friends living in Spain and the Netherlands who want to gather supplies for the victims of the floods in Valencia. In recent days, our hearts have been heavy with sorrow as we witness the destruction caused by DANA in the region of Valencia. The powerful storm and consequent floods have claimed homes, lives, and hope.

For some families, the devastation is beyond the loss of material possessions. With 200+ confirmed deaths and an estimated 1000+ of people missing, the void left by parents, children, grandparents, and friends is unbearable.

Being far away, unable to lend a hand or comfort those in need, we feel powerless. It’s especially hard to know that help has been slow and scarce for so many affected areas. Entire towns are without clean water, electricity, and basic necessities.

Despite the heartbreak, we’ve seen something extraordinary. All across Spain, people have come together to help, showing resilience and a unity that lifts our spirits. Their courage has inspired us to take action, however small, to support those who are still suffering.

That’s why we’ve created this GoFundMe, for anyone outside of Spain who feels the same way. For those who’ve had the joy of vacationing, studying, or living in Valencia or anywhere in Spain, you know how welcoming, vibrant, and extraordinary this place and its people are. Now, they need us.

Your donations will go directly to help families meet their most immediate needs:

1. Medicine: Many people with health conditions have lost access to essential medications.

2. Hygiene Products: Families have lost all basic necessities in the flooding, and essential hygiene items are scarce. We’ll distribute supplies like toothbrushes, sanitary pads, tampons, wet wipes, soap, shampoo, and diapers for both babies and adults to help people meet their daily needs with dignity.

3. Cleaning Supplies: Cleaning up the affected towns is a huge task. We’ll provide items like brooms, buckets, and other necessary cleaning tools.

4. Protective Equipment for Volunteers: Volunteers are courageously working in hazardous conditions, wading through contaminated floodwaters, which pose serious health risks. With your help, we’ll supply protective gear to keep them safe.

Our distribution plan: after receiving your donation, Isabella M., along with her family and friends, will purchase these supplies and drive them from Elche to the affected towns. They’ll help local organizers to ensure that these essentials reach the people who need them most.
