On 11/11/24, my sister-in-law went into early labor and had to have an emergency C-section. Once my nephew was born, my sister-in-law went into cardiac arrest and was placed in an induced coma for 24 hours. She has since been recovering and was finally released home. She has a long road ahead, but we are very hopeful.
Unfortunately, my nephew is still in ICU and was recently transferred to another hospital about 2.5 hours away (5 hours round trip) from where my brother and sister-in-law reside. He was recently diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare liver disease that affects newborns, causing scarring and blockage of the bile ducts. The hospital is still running tests to see what steps they will need to take next.
We are asking for support to help them as they travel back and forth, as my brother is the only one working while his wife is still recovering.
