La Virginia (Colombia) Flood Aid

There were ten thousand people affected by floods in La Virginia, Risaralda. Many families lost everything, at least 16 neighborhoods were affected by the overflow of the Risaralda River on the 18th of May. In some areas the flood waters covered numerous homes to the top. This left many families without money, appliances (like washing machines and refrigerators), food, clothing, personal belongings, personal hygiene items, people were left without beds, blankets, sofas. Some families lost their pets to the tragedy. Many homes were left without doors and the infrastructure was damaged.

We have sent money to family members who live in the town to shop for water, food and personal hygiene items and fairly distribute them to those most in need. However, we realised we wanted to do more because we know there are a lot of people who are willing to help if given the chance. Therefore, we were hoping to spread the word to reach those who want to take part in helping the town recover from this disastrous flood that has left people who already live in poverty and have

This is a voluntary team effort and all funds will be used strictly to help those affected by the flood (volunteers will not benefit from the funds).
