Hello! My name is Leslie Noll. I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my husband, John Noll. John is a very kind, loving, devoted husband, father, son, & friend. He would and has given the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He has a good work ethic & has always been driven to be the best provider he can be. He is a CDL-A truck driver & has been since 2019. That passion of his started very soon after he & I started our lives together. He has many hobbies. Most of which nowadays include his 4 children. He loves his children more than anything on the planet. Our oldest is a 10-year-old girl. We also have a 7-year-old boy, 5-year-old girl & 3-year-old girl. Their daddy is their superhero.
On Sunday, February 16th, 2024, our lives very unexpectedly changed for the worst. My husband had a freak accident. We had a 15lb body mirror hanging in our bedroom, on our door. He was going into our room to get ready to go to work when suddenly, the mirror came crashing down onto the back of his ankle. Our son came to me screaming in panic because he was upstairs with John when the accident happened. I obviously immediately called 911 while also trying to calm our oldest down because she suffers from PTSD from a similar accident back in May of 2024. I also unfortunately have severe hemophobia so I could not even help my husband through any of this. Thankfully, police arrived quickly to help him. They quickly learned that he could not bear any weight on his right foot. He had lost about a pint of blood but was doing ok because of the adrenaline & shock. They sent him off in a superior ambulance to Wilson hospital where he was sat in the waiting room for over an hour. When he was finally seen by the PA, we asked MULTIPLE times if he had done any damage to his Achilles tendon. The PA told us every time that he did not think there was any damage. If there were, he would have been sent to Albany or Syracuse to see a specialist and get it fixed right then to avoid causing any longtime problems. Well, after not being scheduled to see a podiatrist until 2 weeks after the accident, I decided to call his PCP (2/18/25), because we were completely left in the dark. His PCP saw John the very next day (2/19/25). Thankfully, there is a podiatrist in the same building, who also saw John that same day. He was unsure of any damage because John was obviously sewed already & it had been days since the accident. But he did say MULTIPLE times that John is VERY lucky to be alive because the laceration ended not even 1cm from his main artery. We are so very lucky that it was not any worse than what it is. He got sent to MRI the next day (2/20/25). A few hours after the MRI, John received the gut-wrenching results in MyChart. "Achilles: There is a complete tear of the Achilles tendon located 6cm proximal to its insertion...There is a tear gap site present involving the Achilles in this region which measures 1.2cm..." Our hearts sank. This was the worst-case scenario. We heard from his podiatrist the next day to discuss the surgery & care plan. John will not be able to walk for at LEAST 3 months. He will not be able to drive for around 6 months. He will not be able to return to work for 9-12 months. The healing process could be sooner, it could be longer. We have no clue. He is now on temporary disability & we are all trying to adjust to this very unexpected new life. We have had help from a very amazing organization near us who loaned us a knee scooter & bath chair. He is also using crutches to try to take on the stairs in our home because our bedroom is on the 2nd floor. We are looking into other accommodating aides to help him have as normal of a life as he can right now. My husband is now learning a whole new life, all because of a freak accident. Something nobody would EVER expect to happen. He is restricted from being a father, a provider, a human. I have become his full-time caretaker, along with being a full-time mother.
I contemplated making this fundraiser. But unfortunately, John was the primary provider for our family. I am sorry for the long read. I just want to make everything as clear as I possibly can. We are so lucky that John made it out of this alive. We have no clue what our next steps are going to be in life, but we have been soaking in everything as much as we possibly can now, while trying to adjust to our new "normal." Thank you to anyone who has already taken the time to send well wishes, kind messages & prayers our way. Thank you for taking the time to read, share & donate. Our family deeply appreciates every single one of you.
