Aid for Fred Stewart, man who found Beau Mann

Fred Stewart grew up in the Los Angeles Foster Care system. His formal education ended in 9th grade at Santa Monica High School. Fred, in his 50s now, has been living on the streets of Santa Monica for 20+ years. He is not a veteran, though he likes to wear those types of clothes, as he has a great interest in history. He has a small collection of WWI and WWII DVDs and donates monthly to the Holocaust Museum in Los Angeles. Fred does not use drugs and does not drink or smoke. He is not interested in housing, saying he would feel suffocated in a home, thus he likes sleeping outside.
Fred says that if he receives any money for finding Beau Mann, he will use it for food and necessities. Long time neighbors are helping him get the support to access 100% of these funds directly.

Fred found the remains of Beau Mann on the morning of April 26th, 2023. He was cleaning the courtyard of a building that has been a mess since 2020. This semi-hidden courtyard had become a dangerous haven for transients. Fred was tired of seeing the mess, and took it upon himself to clean up what the building owners, NMS, should have done. Fred was bagging up pots/pans/clothes from other transients. He cleared 40+ trash bags before he uncovered the body of Beau Mann. Fred immediately called the police and alerted neighbors, who also called the police.
