<div>On Monday morning, our brother-in-law BJ suffered a horrific accident at work when a piece of heavy metal equipment—several thousand pounds—fell on him. In a miracle of split-second instinct, he was able to move just enough for it to miss his head, but it landed on his foot, causing devastating injuries.

<div>BJ was immediately rushed to VCU Medical Center, where doctors had no choice but to amputate part of his foot—down to the mid-foot. He’s since undergone a second surgery, where surgeons worked to preserve essential tendons and extend his Achilles in hopes of giving him the ability to walk again. A third surgery is scheduled for Monday to try and close the wound and protect what remains of the limb.

<div>This tragedy has turned life upside down for Levi and their three young children—twin babies turning one and a sweet, active four-year-old. Instead of planning the twins’ first birthday party, Levi is now facing the unimaginable: helping her husband recover from a life-changing injury, caring for three little ones, and figuring out how to keep their home running while BJ remains hospitalized.
