<div>This Palestinian family came to Indonesia looking for safety. They were not searching for opportunity or a better life. They just needed somewhere to stay where they would not feel in danger. They arrived with a few belongings, their documents, and the hope that things would slowly get better.

<div>But life here has been harder than they imagined.

<div>Because of their Palestinian passport and refugee status, they are not allowed to work legally. The father used to work back home and support the family without asking anyone for help. Now he spends his days trying to find any kind of informal work, but most places turn him away as soon as they understand his situation. Even when small jobs come up, they are not stable and do not cover basic needs.

<div>The mother stays with the children and tries to keep things normal. She stretches whatever food they have and plans carefully so it lasts as long as possible. Some days are manageable. Other days are uncertain, especially when expenses come all at once like rent, food, or medical needs.

<div>The children are aware of more than their parents would like. They notice when meals are smaller. They hear the conversations about money. They understand that they cannot do certain things other kids can, like attend school regularly or have a stable routine.

<div>They are safe, but they are stuck.

<div>Without the ability to work and without consistent support, every day becomes about getting through the next one. There is no clear path forward, and no timeline for when their situation might change.

<div>• We are a Palestinian refugee family living in Indonesia, trying our best to stay safe and support one another through extremely difficult circumstances.

<div>• Every day is a struggle to afford basic necessities such as food, rent, utilities, and other essential expenses for our family.

<div>• We are unable to return to Palestine, leaving our family without the option of going back home and rebuilding our lives there.

<div>• Like many refugees, we live with uncertainty about what the future will bring and how we will meet our family’s needs in the months ahead.

<div>• According to UNHCR, fewer than 1% of the world’s refugees are resettled to a third country like U.S. Canada, Australia, etc. each year. For families like ours, this means that the wait for a permanent solution can take many years.

<div>• While we wait, we continue to face financial hardship and the emotional burden of not knowing what comes next.
