The Serna/Cavazo's is one of many beautiful families who lost their home this week to the Eaton Fire in Altadena. Edilma and her family have lived in the area for over 19 years and were looking forward to retiring soon. Edilma is an early childhood educator and professor who has dedicated her life to serving families and children. Her home was a sanctuary for many of us who needed her guidance, wisdom, and support. This was a home that held love, memories, and a deep sense of community. The devastation of losing it is not just the loss of a physical structure, but the loss of a space where kindness and care were always abundant. Edilma and her family have touched so many lives in Altadena and all over Los Angeles, and this tragedy is felt by all who have had the privilege of knowing them.

As they navigate this incredibly difficult time, the hope is that the outpouring of support from the community will help them rebuild not just their home, but the spirit and strength that they have shared with so many over the years. The road ahead may be challenging, but the resilience and compassion of the Serna/Cabazo family will undoubtedly carry them forward.

Absolutely, every contribution—no matter the size—makes a difference. Your generosity helps to provide the Serna/Cabazo family with the support they need to rebuild their lives and recover from this devastating loss. It’s in moments like these that the power of community truly shines. Thank you for opening your hearts to them during this challenging time. Every donation counts, and together, we can make a lasting impact. The funds will be used to cover all expenses not covered by the insurance and/or FEMA.

My name is Joanne Grey, and I am Edilma's colleague and long time family friend who is currently assisting her and her family through these challenging times. She has given me her permission to put together this fundraiser on her behalf as she focuses on healing, relocating and rebuilding.
