Aid Brian’s fight against homelessness.

My friend Brian sits outside where I work each week. I must have passed by him hundreds of times as he respectfully sat in a corner by Sephora on king each day. Each week we spoke more and more about his life and his story. The more we spoke each week the more amazed I was at Brian’s resilience and kindness. Often, we judge people who face homelessness before knowing their stories. We forget they are humans who deserve kindness and respect. Brian opened up to me about his life; here is a small piece of his story. Brian moved to Charleston for work a few years ago and shortly after he arriving here he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He had two surgeries and a job as a dish washer that was paying him $9.50 an hour. The hospital bills took everything from Brian financially, he lost his job and has faced homelessness ever since. No one in our country should face homelessness especially because of health. Brian has a great heart and a great personality. He tried to find work but the obstacles he encounters each day makes it almost impossible to make a job interview. With your help we can get Brian the head start that he is deserving of!
