Life is full of surprises~
Our sister, Julie is not feeling her best. She went for testing and a mass was discovered on her pancreas. Julie is scheduled for surgery at U of M, Ann Arbor on Friday, 6-27-14. She will undergo the Whipple procedure. In short, the surgery involves removal of the site of the neoplasm, the head of the pancreas, and the surrounding organs: the curve of the duodenum, distal half of the stomach, gall bladder, cystic duct, common bile duct and regional lymph nodes.
Reconstruction is done to preserve the continuity of the digestive tract and it involves creation of a bypass for food to pass from stomach to the duodenum and the attachment of the hepatic duct to the duodenum to allow passage of digestive juices from the pancreas and bile from the liver into the digestive tract.
For some, this may be too much to handle, not for Julie. For those that are blessed to know her on a personal level, we all know she is fighter. There is nothing she cannot overcome. Julie is “Country Strong”. This procedure will keep her down for a few months. She will need to rest stress free. We all know Julie and that will be difficult for her to do.
My sisters and I created this page on behalf of Julie. We are asking for your help in assisting her to get the proper rest she needs to fully recover. As we all know, that can be difficult to do as the everyday expenses do not rest. We are asking for donations to help Julie meet some of her needs while she recovers.
Julie has touched all of our lives for the better. Let us touch her heart and bring a little more peace for her recovery. Thank you in advance for your kindness, prayers, and support. It is much appreciated.
