Help Ryan Get This Beach Wheelchair

Hi, for those of you that do not know me, my name is Ryan Kerley, I am 19 years old and I graduated from Astronaut High School this year as a part of the Class of 2014! As the summer goes by I contemplate how all my friends are going to the beach, having fun in the sun, and how I live only 30 minutes from the beach and I cannot go because I cannot get out onto the sand… You see I was born with the crippling birth defect known as Spina Bifida, a disease where the spinal cord does not fully form, usually towards the base of the spinal cord. My doctors told my parents that I would live my entire life in a wheelchair… They were wrong. For the first 15 years of my life I was able to walk with the help of continuous therapy and foot and leg braces. But after my freshman year in high school I lost my ability to walk after a surgery on my spinal cord that I just never fully recovered from… My entire life I have developed a fighter’s spirit and have told myself that I will not, not ever, let my disability keep me from doing what I want to do. And I want to go to the beach and enjoy summer with my friends! But I cannot do that in some cases. In this case a beach wheelchair.
