Ahmad in Ramallah

Hi, my name is Eden, I live in the UK and I am raising funds for my friend Ahmad in Ramallah who I met when visiting in 2011. He is 34 and works hard doing two jobs to provide for his family but the economic situation in the West Bank has made it so that he can not find the funds he needs to pay his bills this month. His electricity bill is due in 8 days and he can't get help from family. Ahmad has previous debts to the bank that make it very difficult to get what he needs month to month, which - as a father in the West bank's economic center - comes to a lot. The difference between making ends meet under occupation and in a free state like the UK is enormous but he tries his best and in the decade I have known him this is the first time he has asked for help.

He asked that his picture not be put on here because in his family it is shameful for a man to ask for money, however for the sake of his wife and three-year-old he reached out to me to help him raise the $200 he needs to prevent his energy being switched off. Gofundme accounts can not be made from within Palestine so he needs some one elsewhere to do it.

The pressure (economic and otherwise) that is being applied to residents of the West Bank by Israeli occupation is immense and young men like Ahmad are expected to rise to the challenge, but sometimes this is just not possible. Anything you can spare will help him keep his head above water for now. Thank you.
