On January 24th Matthew Doward the Executive Director and Founder of A Horse's Friend Youth Program had an accident at the farm and his leg was broken. He has had surgery and the initial phase of healing is 10 weeks then physical therapy starts. I am starting this campaign to raise money to fund two paid farm hands to take care of our 27 horses while he is healing. We are lucky enough to have a greatest group of volunteers but desperately need to secure consistent staffing.
A Horse's Friend is a program that puts underserved children and at-risk youth (urban and suburban) together with the experience and joy of horses on our farm. Matthew started the program 15 years ago and we just celebrated our 13 year anniversary at High View Farms.
Matthew did it all at the farm he was a one man dynamo. Driven and dedicated. Selfless and tough. His absence is tragic.
Please help us care for our wonderful horses that have touched so many children lives over the years. Volunteers are most welcome. Donations of farm supplies are also welcome. Thank you. Please visit the AHF Website to learn more about us.
