Help Displaced and Orphaned Children in Ukraine
Donation protected
My name is Heidi Marcon and I sit on the board of directors for a non-profit organization called The Grassroots Hero Foundation . The Foundation was established after my colleague and friend, Dave Hutton, spent six months in Ukraine with a humanitarian organization following the outbreak of the war. Dave has continued to return to Ukraine at his own expense since forming the Foundation. His experience in Ukraine motivated him to do more once he returned home, and in turn, I was motivated to help too.
Based in Vancouver, the Grassroots Hero Foundation supports local volunteers and organizations in Ukraine who are making a difference in the lives of children and people with unmet basic needs who have been directed affected by the war. Our mission is about more than simply donating funds – it is about creating a sense of relationship and connectivity by investing in people. We do this through trusted community partners who know and understand how best to make meaningful differences for those in need.
The children we support in Ukraine are especially affected by the impacts of the war. Having lost their homes, many have missed out on opportunities that nurture their natural growth and development. Working with local childcare centres and dedicated volunteers, we aim to enrich the lives of children through organized play and games, art & craft supplies, and special treats and presents at celebratory times throughout the year. More than just the provision of tangible items, it’s about creating safe spaces and experiences that allow children to come together to play, to laugh, and most importantly, to just be kids. Please consider contributing to these efforts, especially at this festive time of year. Even a donation of $10 will help to make a difference.
The Grassroots Hero Foundation is entirely voluntary and there are no administrative costs; all funds go directly towards the purchase of supplies that are needed.
