On Tuesday June 3rd, a dear cousin was told that he has cancer in his left kidney and in his right lung. A biopsy was taken and the results were to take about 2 weeks. On June 18th, the biopsy came back with no lead in finding the beginning source of the cancer; no lead to what kind of cancer Robert has, so there is no treatment option available until there are some answers. In the meantime his pain is continuing to get worse.
The oncologist sent out the biopsy for further analysis, and contacted Robert on June 23rd after finding some news about the biopsy. After going through a PET scan, Robert was told that there was still no news from the biopsy but instead they wanted to do another biopsy which is being done this morning. However the PET scan shows cancer in the kidney, lung and abdomen. Please continue to pray while he and his family await the next step. We will share any progress to this page.
Robert is a true fighter in every sense of the word. He has been remarkably strong through the rollercoaster of tests and unanswered questions. He is a great father who loves his children and is very much involved in their everyday lives.
We are establishing a fund to assist with some huge medical bills and living costs while he is going through this new journey in his life. He has had to stop working, since he no longer has the strength. In the past month while waiting for any kind of treatment, he has continued to lose weight getting down to 122 lbs, this due to not being able to keep much food down. So he needs to be home with his wife and two young children to spend all the time he can with them, to rest, gain some strength and work on just trying to be as stress free as possible.
Robert’s wife, Maria, does work full time and goes to school full time. Her income is the main income for the family as Robert was attending school full time also and tending to the house and kids so that they could both go to school and make better lives for their family. Roberts’s true wish is that Maria can continue to go to school but he fears that without his income she won’t be able to. This is a source of great stress for Robert. Without a great deal of healing Rob won’t be able to attend school again in the fall and that will again cut into their income as he got grants to attend school. Both of them have served in the Navy, both giving freely of themselves.
We don't want Robert and Maria to spend their time worrying about the large amount of funds needed for everything. On top of financial assistance, they need a lot of prayers for strength, peace and healing. For those who don't believe in God and prayer, would you still leave an encouraging and uplifting comment? It would mean a lot to them.
They will need funds to help pay for Robs new and very important nutritional needs, organic/natural foods (very expensive), Robert is juicing, trying to give his body good nutrition without having to expend the energy of digestion. This also seems to be helping his ability to keep food down. The household bills, for travel expenses due to doctor visits and for visiting family as much as possible and creating new & special memories with the kids. All of these things as well as medication and hospital bills that aren't covered by insurance.
