It is with big hearts that my sister and I are setting up this GoFundMe page on behalf of our father Agustin Sanchez.
You may or may not know that he is on dialysis and has been since July 2014. For the past 3 years, he has been home on dialysis and performs his own treatment. The first at 1pm then at 9pm for his overnight treatment. Then twice a month, he drives 35 miles to DaVita clinic in Chico to get his blood drawn then returns 2 weeks later to get his results from his doctor. DaVita is a clinic in Northern California that specializes in treating patients with chronic kidney failure and end stage renal disease. We are always so worried to get bad news after these treatments but he is always so strong and continues to be very positive and supportive to my sister and I and our families.
Currently our father's kidneys are functioning somewhere between 7%-13% and have been this way for 3 years now. He's on several prescriptions to keep him stable and balanced. It has been a constant worry for us that his kidneys would fail and we would lose him while we waited for an organ donor to provide a life saving opportunity for him.
Miraculously, he was recently contacted by UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento telling him he has been selected from the donors list for a kidney transplant! Our prayers have truly been answered! However, at the moment, he has been placed on hold for the reason that he does not have the money to pay for his post surgery prescriptions! In order to move forward with a kidney transplant, the hospital has asked that he have $5,000 ready to pay for his post surgery prescriptions and treatment. He will need to be on medication for the entire year during his recovery in hopes the kidneys will accept him as a new host. The first 4 months will be the most expensive since he will be on 12-15 different medications. Though he is insured through AARP and Medicare, this amount was unexpected and we as a family want to help!
Our father has always been a supporting brother to his siblings, a supporting son to his parents and a support system to us. Our priority now is our father, and we are hopeful we can get through these times. We ask that you make a donation to help save a life.
