Audrey's Surgery to remove Liver Cancer

Donation protected

7/15/14:  I want to send out a TREMENDOUS THANK YOU to EVERYONE who helped in every way possible, from donations to prayers to supportive phone calls and emails.  Audrey is BACK and even BETTER than before!!!  And it's all down to you all (and some amazing veterinarians)!  There isn't a word in the English language to communicate to you all the depth of my gratitude, so I'll just write this:  THANK YOU.

We're no longer accepting donations, but we would be grateful if you could keep Audrey in your hearts.  She is, truly, an amazing, unique, and wonderful creature.

With all my love and gratitude,
Kelly

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

After 5+ months of various medical treatments, two weeks ago, an amazing hepatic specialist realized that Audrey the Wonderdog's symptoms were likely from liver cancer.

Today (6/18/14) was her surgery, and, as of 4:36 pm EDT, the doctor reported that she did very well -- they were able to remove the tumor, AND additional spots on her liver that looked suspicious.  She's now in recovery and will be in ICU through Friday.

Many of you know that Audrey is my best friend, my closest companion, and my soul mate.  She is by far one of the brightest living creatures I have ever met, and gives her love openly and freely, with no bounds.  She is truly amazing and absolutely one of a kind.

What you may not know is that she is also my service dog and, on one occasion, actually saved my life.  For that alone, never mind being my constant loving companion for the last 6+ years, through hell and high water, this surgery was absolutely necessary.

While I managed to get a line of credit to pay the bill to get her admitted, paying it off going to be a significant hardship.  After 4 people specifically told me that I should use GoFundMe to offer people the option to make donations to her medical bills, I've set up this site.

I will be nursing her at home after discharge and her prognosis is good, pending biopsy of the additional growths.  While I am usually very reluctant to ask for personal help -- never mind financial personal help -- I must in this case.  The best way to help is with a monetary contribution toward her medical bills.

If there's anything you can give -- $5, $10, $50, or $500 -- I would be beyond grateful.  Any and all contributions will be a huge assistance.  In the event that we surpass the goal amount (which is just the estimate and could well run over), the remainder will be donated to the Boston General Fund at the MSPCA / Angell Adoption Center in Jamaica Plain, where I first met my dear heart on February 1st, 2008.  (More information on that fund is available here:  http://bit.ly/1kOFSaX)

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly via the contact link on this page.

And, from the bottom of our canine and human hearts, Audrey and I thank you for taking the time to read this, and we hope you'll contribute whatever amount you can.
