Help us beat Thyroid Cancers butt!

So I have a story to share about how my world stopped spinning for a few minutes just two weeks ago. It came when I had a surprise visit from my big sis, who drove all night with her 3 little ones the 8 hour trek to my home in Northern California. She had some big news to share and the drive was an escape from her nightmare that became her reality only a few short hours before. Turns out she has Cancer. Even writing this brings tears to my eyes. Now I know she's not the first person ever to be effected by this nasty disease, and I know many of you out there have your own stories of loss, for which I deeply regret. I always knew at some point I'd have family or a friend who would share those dreadful words with me, but you just can't ever be prepared. It hits like a thousand bricks.

My big sis is an amazing mom of 3 girls ranging from 11 months to 10 years old. Shortly after having her youngest baby, she began getting ill. She had lots of cold-like symptoms but the most persistent was a sore throat and cough. Eventually she discovered a small lump on her neck, although she kept her cool she knew it was something that needed to be looked at by her doc. On June 2nd she had a biopsy done. The next day she was notified it was positive for Thyroid Cancer. Fortunately, her doc is confidant in her ability to fight this cancer and win. Her doctor recommended she have surgery immediately to remove the lump. In most Thyroid cancer situations the survival rate is 97% and even higher. Her future is bright and really it's just a matter of removal, in rare forms a radiation treatment is needed following the procedure but we are hopeful that won't be the case for her. This is where we are reaching out to our community of friends and family and asking for some help.

We are all guilty of the "it can never happen to me" mentality and that is where my sis is exactly, there was just no way of preparing for this financially and with 3 little ones and a single income they are already making the budget stretch. She has always been responsible and her family has medical coverage but her portion for the surgery -that is only 2 weeks away- is $5000.00 I know she would never want to put this burden on her friends and family which is why I will be the one to ask, if you can spare $5, $10, $20 or whatever, anything helps. We would be so very humbled and grateful. Thank you for taking your time to read our story and for those of you who are able to help, your truly Gods angels.
