Hey everyone,
My name is Matt and this little guy right here in the picture is my nephew, Declan. He was diagnosed with Arthrogryposis while still in the womb. Until he came along, I had never even heard of this horrible disease. Some of the symptoms of Arthrogryposis in children are that they are born with joints that have limited movement or are stuck in one position and thin, weak (atrophied), stiff or missing muscles. The awful truth about Arthrogryposis is that 1 out of 3 kids do not make it through pregnancy. They die in utero, during labor or shortly after birth or before cases they are 2 years old.
Anyone that really knows me knows how much I hate running, but there is a half marathon that I am currently training for at the end of August that is to support the research for Muscular Dystrophy (his specific type of Arthrogryposis is linked to Muscular Dystrophy). Declan is just about to turn 2 years old next week and there is nothing that I would not do to help this little guy and his fight, (even run a half marathon). I am looking for your support in this situation we are in. Along with paying to sign up for this run, I have to raise an additional $1000 not including my entry fee, flight, hotel, transportation and food. I am only going to set a small minimum limit on how much we can raise for this cause, but there is a team of friends and family members that I am doing this with that also would love your support.
If each of my social media friends donated a minimum of $1, it would help to cover most of the costs for a single runner for this event ($5 would sponsor half of our team). This is a great cause and Declan would really appreciate your support in his fight. We greatly accept any monetary help, well wishes and especially your prayers.
