Matthew Westerby Company Summer Tour!

Matthew Westerby Company was recently invited to perform at the Great Friends Dance Festival in Newport, Rhode Island, an annual event hosted by the Island Moving Company. The festival was founded to "showcase new work, guest companies, and artists from around the country." And we are thrilled to be invited to perform a program of repertory alongside other great dance companies this July 17-20!

In order for MWC to rehearse, travel and perform, we are looking to raise funds to cover basic costs - renting rehearsal space, cost of traveling to/from Rhode Island, and of course performance fees for our wonderful performers! We hope you will consider joining us and showing your support as we expand our audience base and take our work to new venues. No donation is too small!

Matthew Westerby Company, formed in 2009, is an eight-member dance company based in New York, and presents performance and arts-in-education work regularly around the tri-state area. This season, the Company was presented at Dixon Place, Green Space, Connecticut Dance Theatre, Hudson Guild and the Klavierhaus. The Company also collaborated with pianist Matei Varga and composer Matt Van Brink to create A Swan Lake Fantasy - a contemporary re-imagining of a classic. 

This also marked the fifth season as dance company in-residence for Project Poetry Live! - a major arts-in-education initiative in partnership with Litchfield Performing Arts (Connecticut). Artistic Director Matthew Westerby was also commissioned to create original work for Dancewave, as well as staging an adaptation of Romeo & Juliet for the Hudson Guild Theatre Company.
