A Mother's Love

Over 18 years ago, a woman walked into my dance studio to sign her daughter up for ballet; little did I know the impact that relationship would have on my life.
Kyla was born in July 1994, weighing a little more than 4lbs with a diagnosis of Down Syndrome. This has never been a barrier for her. She loves music, is an avid reader and takes any challenge presented to her. She has an appreciation for the little things in life, a great sense of humour and a perseverance like no other. It's something I truly admire about her.
In early years, Stacey (her mother) worked while Kyla was in school. As a single parent, she has always strived to provide as many opportunities for Kyla as possible. In addition to working, Stacey volunteers her time for various charities close to her heart and will help anyone in need.
Four years ago things changed when Kyla developed kidney disease. Since then, she has had to undergo dialysis treatments. Not surprisingly both Kyla and Stacey faced this challenge head on with health setbacks constantly in the loom. Stacey has since started her own business so that she would be able to be home to provide care.
Kyla's opportunity for a healthier life is arriving on September 11th as her mother is donating a kidney to her; a true gift of a mother's love.
I know that during the recovery time, funds may be limited as Stacey is self-employed, and additional care may be required. I can't think of anyone more deserving and I hope this page helps them get through this difficult time.
