After the Fire

It’s hard to see someone you love so much go through something so horrible. At 1 AM on Thurs Feb 22nd the hot water heater in Rena and Nestor’s home malfunctioned and caused a fire. I am so thankful they made it out safely but their 12 year old cat Ponce died. Their other cat Vita fled in fear and has yet to be found. I arrived there after Rena called me and witnessed as the firemen put out the fire and shortly thereafter carried Ponce out in a body bag. Not only did they have to bury their cat that night but their home received catastrophic damages. Between the smoke, soot and water damage the house has to be gutted and rebuilt. Anyone who knows them knows they prefer to give and rarely ask for help but in this situation they have to start over and I am hopeful that between all the people who care about them we can create a fund that will help make that road to recover a little easier to navigate. Please remember that they have a 15 month old daughter Alessia and during this time they hope to keep her life as “normal” as possible in terms of daycare and housing. Es difícil ver a alguien que amas tanto pasar por algo tan horrible.
A la 1 AM del jueves 22 de febrero,
el calentador de agua en la casa de Rena y Nestor funcionó mal y causó un incendio. Estoy tan agradecido de que hayan salido de forma segura, pero su gato de 12 años Ponce murió. Su otro gato, Vita, huyó con miedo y todavía no se ha encontrado. Llegué allí después de que Rena me llamó y presenció cómo los bomberos apagaban el fuego y poco después sacaban a Ponce en una bolsa para cadáveres. No solo tuvieron que enterrar a su gato esa noche, sino que su hogar recibió daños catastróficos. Entre el humo, el hollín y el daño del agua, la casa debe ser reconstruida. Cualquiera que los conozca sabe que prefieren dar y rara vez piden ayuda, pero en esta situación tienen que comenzar de nuevo y tengo la esperanza de que entre todas las personas que se preocupan por ellos podamos crear un fondo que ayude a hacer ese camino para recuperar una Poco más fácil de navegar. Recuerde que tienen una hija de 15 meses, Alessia, y durante este tiempo esperan mantener su vida lo más "normal" posible en términos de guardería y vivienda. Gracias por su consideración.
