Afro-Indigenous Wisdom Gathering in Honduras

I am Amoke Kubat. You may know me as Ms. K, Mama Amoke, Iya or YO MAMA: Artist, Eco-Womanist and Culture Bearer.
I AM THRILLED to announce that a wonderful opportunity has come to me! It satisfies my BIG CURIOSITY about Afro-Indigenous Communities and their work for social justice and liberation! I see an opportunity to connect and build on our collective work despite living in two countries.
I will be joining a specialized delegation to Honduras for BIPOC educators, artists and organizers. The delegation will be traveling in June 2023 to Honduras with an amazing group of delegates.
This delegation will focus on the interconnectedness of patriarchal violence and U.S. neocolonial extractivism in Honduras. Delegates will hear directly from Indigenous land based movements and feminist and queer community organizations about their experience and defense of their communities. This delegation will center and actively support the participation of 1st generation, Central American diaspora (Garifuna Community), and BIPOC participants.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime for me. This experience connects my lifetime of work and community service; Early Childhood Educator and Special Education teacher, Youth Leadership (Children of War), YO MAMA’S The Art of Mothering Workshops, Extreme Emergency and Climate Change Preparedness, Elder Projects, and Amoke’s CAFE REPAIR (currently addressing Northside’s extractive removal of Ash Trees due to EAB infestation).
This 8 day experience costs $2500 plus airfare. Fees covers just about everything except airfare: food, lodging, translation, accompaniment, facilitation, reading and preparation materials, orientation and on-the-ground transportation. However, I am only able to pay $1,000. My ask is $3,000 (a safety net for any surprises).
NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL!
With allmy heart, I thank you for supporting me.
