Support Our Reparations Campaign Work

Donation protected

The Afrikan Emancipation Day Reparations March Committee and the Stop the Maangamizi: We Charge Genocide/Ecocide Campaign (AEDRMC/SMWeCGEC) require your support to fund the education and campaigning work that is brought together and showcased on our flagship commemorative day of action; 1st Mosiah (August) every year, otherwise known as Afrikan Emancipation Day which is supported by the largest public assemblage of pro-reparations groups and constituencies within and beyond the UK.

Afrikan Emancipation Day, is commemorated to remind us of:

1.     Our Ancestors sacrifices and struggles to emancipate themselves and future generations from chattel and colonial forms of enslavement;

2.     The Maangamizi criminality enshrined with the passing of the Act for the Abolition of slavery throughout the British Colonies; for promoting the industry of the manumitted slaves; and for compensating the persons hitherto entitled to the service of such slaves (also known as the Slavery Abolition Act) on 1 August 1833, which took effect from 1 August 1834; resulting in the compensation of enslavers rather than Afrikan people; and also

3.     The need to emancipate ourselves from the Maangamizi of neocolonialism which will not occur without ‘full repair’ as mandated in the United Nations Guidelines and Principles on a Right to a Remedy and Reparation.

Even during the Covid-19 pandemic with many curtailments, we are still driving forward in mobilising our communities to participate in the work that achieves the aims set out in our websites:

www.reparationsmarch.org

www.stopthemaangamizi.com

We require further resources to take the following work to the next level:

·        Hosting awareness raising and community engagement programmes and events such as the Pan-Afrikan Reparations Action Rebellion Reasonings (PARRARs) and the Pan-Afrikan Peoples Assembly on Afrikan Reparations (PAPAAR)

·        Organising glocal sessions of the Ubuntukgotla - Provisional Peoples International Tribunal for Global Justice

·        Training community organisers to do reparations outreach in their local areas

·        Working with our communities, allies and other stakeholders in promoting the need for a public hearing on Afrikan Reparations via the All-Party Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry for Truth and Reparatory Justice (APPCITARJ)

·        Lobbying publicly elected officials to support the APPCITARJ and pass ‘atonement and reparations’ motions at the borough and city council level.

·        Developing the I AM WITNESS testimonial project in preparation for the APPCITARJ https://stopthemaangamizi.com/i-am-witness/

·        Conducting community focus groups and surveys on reparations

·        Producing educational resources

·        Printing promotional flyers and much more

Then there are the costs of the Afrikan Emancipation Day Pan-Afrikan Reparations Rebellion Groundings held in Brixton on 1st Mosiah:

·        Equipment e.g. stage, sound system, portable loo hire, walkie talkies

·        Lorry float

·        First Aid equipment

·        Health and safety supplies

·        Printing & publicity costs

·        Training stewards

·        Volunteer’s sustenance

·        Volunteer's training materials

·        Poster and banner production

·        Stationery/Admin resources for our groundings areas

·        And more!

Please support our own efforts to build the International Social Movement for Afrikan Reparations, resource organising processes of community-self-repairs, showcase grassroots initiatives for reparations and our determination to secure holistic reparatory justice by our peoples power! This is about more than a day! This is a lifetime commitment!
