African Bloodlines Research

Donation protected
The continent of Africa has 54 countries, 2000 languages and an abundance of ecological majesties. Out of Africa, modern man originated over 200,000 years ago. Yet, little is known about the diversity of African-Americans that came to inhabit the western hemisphere. Our mission is to investigate the lives of African-Americans by looking at genealogical mysteries, genetics and elements of their cultural societies. This includes traveling to African-American and African-American micro-ethnic populations to collect saliva samples for genomic analysis, collecting ethnographic data and researching specific genes associated with chronic diseases in these populations.

Our team consists of undergraduate and graduate students at Howard University who are members of the W. Montague Cobb Research Laboratory. The W. Montague Cobb research Lab is the only academic institution in the world with over 400 years of genomic samples on peoples of African descent and with such great potential for illumination of the African-American past.

Donations would help the cost of student transportation, community outreach, payment for scientific materials and maintenance of technological services that promote the project.

We would greatly appreciate any donation including sharing our page with other possible donators. Thank you!
