Educate children in Senegal

Afreek’Ed is a newly created NGO that fights for Education in Africa. Our goal is to give children of all age access to school and offer them the guidance needed for academic success. For this upcoming academic year (starts in October), we would like to sponsor low-income children in primary and pre-schools of Dakar, Senegal.

In Senegal, nearly 40% of children do not attend primary school and 75% of them never attended pre-school because of the high poverty rate. As a consequence, many of them become victims of child abuse and labor. Others are sent to school to learn the basics of reading, writing, and mathematics, and subsequently forced to drop out at a very young age in order to support their family by becoming field, domestic or any other low-paid workers.

Another rising issue is the lack of free pre-school education. Children that attend kindergarten are usually privileged to start their elementary education at a young age and given priority to enroll in both public and private primary schools. Unfortunately, public kindergartens are scarce resulting in the enrollment of low-income children in primary school at a much older age.

We believe that all kids should be treated fairly, equally and given the chance to achieve their dreams. Therefore, we need YOU to help us protect these kids and give them their basic rights back. Our first journey will take us to the ‘’Matar Diop’’ primary school and the ‘’Village Des Tout Petit Keur Mame Dabakh’’ pre-school. About 80 children coming from struggling families have been identified by the schools’ administration in partnership with the City Hall of Medina. We would like to assist at least 20 of them (10 in the primary school and 10 in the pre-school) by sponsoring their tuition (annual for primary school and monthly for pre-school) and school supplies.

Education is not a privilege, it is a basic right taken away from these kids. HELP US HELP THEM!

Sincerely,

Afreek’Ed
