Mariah’s medical expenses

On 4/25/19, I was involved in an accident that will unfortunately impact me for the rest of my life. Nathan (my husband) and I were having a bonfire and as I approached the fire to put a piece of wood on it, something exploded and I was right there taking in the majority of the impact from the explosion. Right away I knew it wasn’t good and 911 was called. At the time of the explosion, we were in Condon, Oregon which is about 1.5 hours east of the Dalles. Because of the small town we were in and the extent of my injury’s, I  was life flighted to Legacy Emanuel in Portland Oregon.

It’s been a whirlwind the last 1.5 weeks for not only myself but all my family as well (I have 3 kids, all under the age of 5). I have endured a lot of physical pain, as well as emotional. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions and I will have a long road of recovery ahead. As of right now, I have  2nd degree burns, with some spots potently being 3rd degree. My first few days in the burn unit, I was unable to get up and walk around but I made progress and day by day was slowly getting better. As of right now, there is talks of doing a skin graph surgery on my upper right leg, but nothing is finalized or decided yet. We should know about surgery come this Wednesday (5/8/19).

I have health insurance but it’s unknown what all will be covered or not, but my insurance unfortunately will not cover my life flight, which is $58,000 alone. My husband has been the sole provider for the mean time since I’ve been in the hospital and caring for the kids, but with me not being  home he’s had to pay for childcare as well as other expenses since having to travel back and forth to the hospital.

I’m  in good spirts and remain positive about the experience and my recovery, and am thankful that it wasn’t worse. Any donations are welcome but if you can’t, at least spread the word and share this post please. I really appreciate everyone who’s checked in on me daily and who has came and seen me in the hospital, it has meant so much to me ❤️

Thank you all for the love and support!
