Hello art lovers, healers, activists, and community leaders. My name is Djenane Saint Juste, I am a native of one of the most powerful countries that shook the world since 1804: AYITI-HAITI. I am a dance instructor, choreographer, storyteller, writer, and the founder and Artistic Director of AFOUTAYI. AFOUTAYI is a Haitian dance, music, and arts company created in the Bay Area of California in 2009 and relocated to the Twin Cities, Minnesota in 2014. Our Mission is to inspire and educate youth of all ages to celebrate the mosaic of Haitian traditional culture through dance, percussion, song, and storytelling. Since 2009, we have been moving from one place to the other with drums, costumes, and people...with the hope to find a stable place to serve our community. Finally, this year we just sign a (5) five years lease at 2525 Nevada Ave N, Suite 211, Golden Valley, MN 55427. This is GOLD news for us!!! For me personally is the opportunity to share my creative works with my community. find a space where people from all backgrounds but especially of African and Caribbean descent can freely express themselves through dance, drum, arts, community gatherings, and even speak their native tongues. I invite you to be part of this dream that is finally becoming reality by helping us gather the fund to get the space ready for our activity. We need at least $10,000 so we can afford to add mirrors, Marley floor, curtains, and other dance equipment that will enable us to launch the big opening of our AFOUTAYI NEW HOME on Saturday, October 8 from 11 am to 9 pm.
