Afghanistan Off the X Project

Off the X Project (OTX)

Mission: To make safe Afghans who are or will be targets for execution or imprisonment by the Taliban because they worked with or alongside international organizations to seek peace and democracy for Afghanistan. This will be a long-term project.

What: The allied evacuation mission ended on 31 August 2021.   There are still thousands of Afghans targeted by the Taliban who did not get on a plane.

Many of the people left behind have visas to leave, however missed the evacuation window...most, though, do not have visas due to a number of factors (including because they can't read or write English and therefore can't fill out the forms), yet worked with international organizations and are therefore at  risk.

The members of OTX believe we have a moral obligation to help those people who are left behind avoid death, to get them out of harms way... to get them "Off the X".

How: Off the X is developing and maintaining a low-profile network in Afghanistan that will provide emergency humanitarian exfiltration to those in need.

There are a number of elements required to build such a network and, more importantly, make it safe.  We are raising $500,000 to pay for the long-term upkeep of the network and the tools we will need to run it. This includes:

  • cost of running safehouses, including rent, food, etc
  • technology to support identification of and communication with those in harm, this will include subscriptions to back-end tools on social media platforms, mobile phones and phone credit and other innovative operational technology
  • cost of running operations, including Afghan staff, linguists and local experts.
  • cost of in-country logistics, including vehicles, fares and other expenses associated with travel

The details of our operational activities are, by necessity, low-profile and we will not be able to reveal any operational detail for security reasons. We will, however, endeavor to provide updates when we can.

Funding: The money will be paid to and distributed from Levenhall, Inc, a Delaware C Corp operating in California, USA pending the creation and approval of a 501(c)(3)

Any overages in funds raised beyond those mentioned above will be donated to NGOs who work/ed in Afghanistan and charitable organizations who are helping refugees and recent arrivals. We are unable to mention them here as we are actively helping get their people out, however once it is safe to do so we will mention them here.

Who: This effort is being run by Afghan patriots who fear for the safety of their friends and families. They are advised by a multinational group of military and intelligence community veterans, including from:

Levenhall, which is a national security innovation and commercial intelligence firm based in California ( Levenhall's vision is to provide commercial intelligence advisory services, to build an innovation framework across alliances and to provide cutting-edge technology to Intelligence Operators and Warfighters at a time of global strategic competition.

ClearSpeed, which is a cutting-edge Californian company redefining risk assessment and fraud identification through innovation in AI-driven voice-based technology ( Led by a USMC veteran, ClearSpeed is helping keep Off the X networks safe.
