Afghan Refugee family needs a van

This fundraiser is for the benefit of an Afghanistan refugee family who relocated to Sacramento, CA. just three months ago.  They have 7 children.  5 of the children are in elementary school.  The father has no means of transportation.  He has a valid CA driver's license but no vehicle.  He served as a intrepretor for the US Armed Forces in Afghanistan.  He put his life on the line, and had to flee Afghanistan.

The funds will be used to purchase a good used van that would transport up to 7 people.  School is starting in just 2 weeks and the father needs transportation to get the children to school and back.  Also to grocery shop, as well as going to their worship center.  In  the sprawl of Sacramento we are very dependent on our vechiles.  

I am a retired physician.  My passion and purpose in life is to still help people in need.  Also, it is so important in this day of isolationism to network and help one another.  Remember the Golden Rule?   The ultimate goal is to help this family become more independent in their new community.

I will be so grateful to any and all of you that are willing to open your hearts and pockets to help this family get an appropriate means of transportation.

I am supporting this family's adjustment into Sacramento.  I met them through a mutual friend who has been helping them obtain some furnishings for their home.  

I plan to be responsible in assuring that these funds go to the purchase of the vehicle that is described above.  I will take him to shop for a used vehicle.  I will personally see that the money is used for this sole purpose.
