Support Our Teachers

"I would teach him that he doesn't have to be bound by the expediences of any given administration, any given policy, any given morality, that he has the right and necessity to examine everything." - James Baldwin

2020 has brought about changes within education that we would have never imagined, yet it has unlocked doors to a world of creativity so many have been afraid to open. Teachers across the nation were tasked with providing a robust and engaging educational experience for students who experienced a rollercoaster or emotions mixed with trauma due to the unforeseen circumstances of COVID-19. At the beginning of this pandemic, teachers were praised for their ability to adapt and adjust to the new teaching environment as they continued to provide instruction for our students. However, as school districts across the country began to open in August and teachers were given the option to apply to work from home due to personal medical conditions, people were quick to criticize, shun and deem teachers as selfish for not wanting to go back into the classroom.

The Goodloe's are a dynamic duo who continue to build a loving community no matter where God leads them. These two teachers have stood tall in the face of adversity and have chosen to put their health before their job. "I can't teach from the grave," is a common quote that has been used amongst teachers during the 2020 school year. Many have drawn up their Wills prior to the start of the school year because of the danger they were willing to enter as they were forced back into the school building.

My friend is in need of help during this crisis as they have been given two choices - take FMLA or resign. Either choice places my people in a huge bind. While going on FMLA protects their employment, it does not provide financial means for them to take care of their family. What I am asking is that you help support my family, the people I love, while they await a decision from their current school district. They are asking to continue teaching remotely, they've filed a grievance, and are willing to take this as far as needed to help shed light on the malpractice taking place within the educational system. The Goodloe family needs help now to continue their fight and  secure legal services and potential employment opportunities.

The Goodloe's have dedicated themselves to serving the needs of others through education and sports. Now they need our help to continue fighting and serving the future change agents. Those of you who know this family know they would never agree to any of this, but they need our help in this fight.

Thank you for your time and support
