Help For Hannah

My name is Hannah Nunberg. I’m in a hospital here in New York City and recovering from an illness related to my ovarian cancer. I have been fighting it for the last ten years, longer than any of my doctors predicted I would survive. The chemotherapy that I was previously responding to, began to fail and my doctors advised a new form of therapy, immunotherapy. I‘ve suffered a severe setback after my implanted infusion port caused a severe infection sending me to the emergency room and a 2 week stay at NYU Hospital. Although I have beaten the infection, I have no energy to eat or drink and have limited strength to get around.  I have been living with my sister in a walk-up building, in a third floor duplex apartment where her kitchen and my bedroom are separated by another flight of stairs. Although I will be going for short term rehab once discharged from the hospital, I will not be able to return to my current living situation as I will not be strong enough to negotiate 3-4 flights of stairs.  After rehab, I want to move into an assisted living facility where I can be safe and be able to enjoy the remainder of my life, but I am unable to pay the costs of such a facility.
 
Being a spirited soul, I’ve been living a humble spiritual life in a great community of like-minded people for a long time. Now with this financial predicament I need help to maintain a roof over my head and to give me the feeling of safety that I need to move forward with my therapy.

 

I am now going out to my friends, my spiritual community, and family for support. I’m calling out for help from those people who are in my life and who can help me financially. I will just need help to cover the costs of my housing. I only receive Social security, which you know is not a lot of money today. I am unable to work during this time due to my weakened state and recurrent hospitalizations. I plan to continue to receive my new treatments which will hopefully help me get through this resurgence of my cancer. I am asking you, from this heartfelt place, to support me so that while I make every effort to recover, I have a safe place to live. This is not easy for me to ask for help, but I do not have any other option.
