Mikale's Journey to Kick CANcer's Butt!!

Mikale was brought the ER on May 9th, 2014, because his parents and nana noticed one of his eyes appeared to be larger than the other. He was diagnosed with an eye infection, prescribed a cream and sent home. His mom did not feel that he had an eye infection, but did as she was told and used the cream until he could follow up with his pediatrician the following Monday, May 12, 2014. The pediatrician examined him and agreed that there was no eye infection, but noticed something called proptosis (a bulging of the eye). He was immediately sent to an eye specialist for further evaluation. The eye specialist (ophthalmologist) recommended that he have a MRI, which was then scheduled for May 27th, 2014. On May 15th, 2014 his mom noticed a red spot in the corner of his eye as if he had a broken blood vessel. She contacted the ophthalmologist who said that this could be normal due to the pressure on the eye, but if things get worse to call back. When Mikale was picked up on Friday evening, his mom then noticed that the small red spot had spread and seemed to cover the corner of his eye. She then contacted the ophthalmologist after hours to notify them. The on call doctor was such a blessing, he met Mikale at the office after hours to examine  him. He felt that the MRI should be done sooner, so he planned for Mikale to come in on Tuesday May 20th, 2014 to possibly be admitted. On Saturday May 17th, 2014 Mikale's dad noticed some bruising under the eye. We contacted the same doctor he saw the night before. He had us to send him a picture to his phone. He then went above and beyond to have Mikale admitted on Sunday May 18th, 2014 because with Mikale being inpatient, his MRI would have to get moved up. On Monday May 19, 2014 Mikale was sedated and a MRI was performed. The results came back that Mikale had some sort of cancer and more test would need to be done to confirm a diagnosis. The MRI of the brain showed a mass behind his left eye and a smaller one behind the right. On Tuesday May 20th, 2014, Mikale was sedated again and had a CT scan of his abdomen area which showed he had small lesions on his kidney, adrenal glands, and liver. The doctor (oncologist) said that this showed characteristics of neuroblastoma, but more tests would need to be performed. On Wednesday May 21st, he was sedated yet again, for a bone marrow aspiration. The bone marrow was able to confirm a diagnosis of neuroblastoma (a cancerous tumor developed from immature nerve cells). A positive is that not only do we believe in God, but also, because his parents pay so much attention to every little change with him, the doctors feel this is very early detection. He does not have any symptoms, he does not realize he is sick, he is still a happy, playful baby. The lesions in his abdomen are so small that none of the doctors can feel them. At the age of 6 months, he has a greater advantage with treatment because most babies have it this young, but it is most times not detected until after age 1 or 2. We just thank God in advance for this testimony in the making! Our little strong guy will fight through this! Mikale now has to receive chemo therapy for 8 cycles, every 21 days. Each time he will be admitted to the hospital for approximately 3 days. Please help his family fund his treatment, no amount is too small.
