Medical Expense For Autism Treatment

Donation protected
It has been two years since our sweet Titus was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We remember so vividly how distant and withdrawn our boy had been; lost in his own world. Shortly after we received diagnosis for Titus we spent time with two key family members who happen to work in the field of ABA therapy; a specialized treatment for Autism. When I saw both Joel and Steve interact with Titus I knew they had a gift to enter into his world and reach a child who otherwise seemed so lost. This was my first encounter with ABA and I wanted to learn more. At Titus' next visit at Childrens Hospital Autism Center, his doctor made it clear just how vital it would be to seek ABA therapy for Titus as soon as possible. Thus started a journey to find this amazing 1:1 treatement for our son. From the start it has been excrutiating working with our insurance company to make this life changing ABA therapy happen for our son. From claims of no insurance coverage for Autism, to saying they will cover it all; back and forth, all over the map, there was never a clear answer on coverage. Jon and I made the decision to start this crucial therapy and stop waiting on wishy washy insurance. To our thrill things were covered and we got the help Titus so desperately needs. The transformation in our once disengaged child has been a true miracle! ABA therapy has been a tremendous blessing and brought our boy back. Unfortunately, the insurance recently stated they will not cover the close to $30,000 in ABA therapy bills that have accumulated. It seems they have found a loophole in our benefit plan that allows them to do so up until July 1, of this year. Now, we do see a light in the tunnel...we know starting July 1 we're covered!!! But...we are now stuck with $30,000 in bills that need to be paid, or Titus risks losing his various therapists and programs.  His therapists are wonderful people, but unfortunately, they can not afford to work for no payment.  To ensure that Titus can continue to grow and thrive, payments have to be made to his therapists. This is where you, may, or may not, get involved. If you feel lead to support Autism we humbly ask for a donation made directly to Titus to pay for the amazing work that has already been done, while being assured that his future growth will continue due to insurance reform.
